Method for Detecting Haze in Recording Disks

      The following method describes how to detect for haze on thin
film disks using surface geometry as a basis.

      The described solution looks at the radial runout component of
the disk geometry.  Looking at the runout maximum and minimum
peak-to-peak values, correlation was shown between the haze disks and
a large difference in the maximum and minimum values over the
standard population.  The larger the difference, the more hazier the
product.
