Abstract

A method to truly erase data from Optical Write Once Read Many (WORM) storage is disclosed. The erasure is accomplished by adding a second read head which precedes the write head. The read head precedes the write head by the exact distance necessary to allow the write to precisely write the land-inverse pattern (of the data being read) to the surface of the optical media.
