Dovetail Joint System for Docking Station

Disclosed is a joint system for Detachable Personal
Computer/Word Processor and its Docking Station (Fig. 1).  This
system consists of a pair of sliders and holders which have a
dovetail profile.  This realizes a very compact joint mechanism
unless it loses its mechanical strength.

Fig. 2 shows the dovetailed slider of the Personal Computer
side and the dovetailed holder of the Docking Station side.  The
dovetailed slider and holder can be swapped according to the
product's requirement.  When the operator attaches a Personal
Computer to the Docking Station, the dovetailed slider of the
Personal Computer goes along with the dovetailed holder of the
Docking Station (Fig. 3).  Then the Personal Computer is fixed to the
Docking Station.  To detach the Personal Computer from the Docking
Station, the operator just slides the Personal Computer from the
dovetailed holder of the Docking Station.  An optional lock mechanism
can be added to avoid accidental release of the Personal Computer
from the Docking Station.

In comparison with the traditional joint system (Fig. 4), this
joint system provides small height of joint parts and keeps the same
level of joint strength.  This system is applicapable not only to a
movable Personal Computer but also to a Word Processor, Video Camera
and all the detachable products which may have Docking Stations.
