Method for Automatically Incorporating Note Log Items in Status Reports

Provided is an automatic merge of note log items from a file
system at the time a user constructs a status report.

Many users write status reports to their managers on a weekly,
monthly, etc., basis.  Data used to construct such a report comes
from memory, inbasket archives, calendar data, etc.  A method is
needed for automating the process of incorporating data from status
report sources into a status report.

A user, while editing a status report, invokes a merge function
with a specified time interval for valid note log items to be added
to the report.  Upon invocation, all relevant entries are presented
to the user, one by one.  The user may either accept or deny adding
the entire entry, the subject line or both to the report file.
Entries are added to the position where the cursor was present at the
time of invocation.  The cursor may be relocated at any time.
Entries are added into the file below the previously added entry by
default.  The user may abort the process at any time.  The user may
also delete the entry from the note log or save it into another note
log at the time it is presented to the user for processing.

Specified note logs may be used as valid source logs for the
merge.  The source log set default remains in effect until an update
is made by the user.
