Microchannel Connector Card Tab Support Feature

      Disclosed is a design enhancement for printed circuit card
connector housings to provide mechanical support to the card edge and
minimize relative motion between the card edge tab and the connector
contact spring during operational and shipping-induced vibration.

      Current connector design allows micromotion between the card
tabs and connector housing, increasing the risk for card tab wear, as
well as debris relocation due to machine vibration.

      The enhancement consists of a "V" groove added to the bottom of
the connector housing slot to match the card beveled edge.

      Fig. 1 shows a cross-section of the exiting connector housing.
Fig. 2 shows the same cross-section with the "V" grooved bottom.
Fig.  3 shows the cross-section of the connector system with a
current connector housing A, connector contacts B, flat bottom C and
card motion D.  In addition, Fig. 4 shows Housing A, contacts B, card
edge bevel C and connector housing "V" grooved bottom D.
