Method of Delivering Phone Messages to Appropriate Devices Based
on Content

Provided is a method of and apparatus for delivering phonemail
messages to appropriate devices based on the content of said
messages.

PhoneMail systems currently require a user to receive messages
from the phone system.  Some users may desire to receive phone
messages in an appropriate form depending on what is contained within
the phone message.

Phonemail systems also require a user to peruse mail items for
the purpose of knowing what information may be contained therein.  A
method is needed for automatically communicating topics of interest
to a user.

A user often wishes to forward phonemail of interest to other
users.  A method is needed for automatically forwarding phonemail of
particular topics to appropriate users.

Often, a user is not reachable by telephone.  The user may be
reachable by phone, fax, beeper or other means.  A method is needed
for automatically communicating phone messages containing topics of
interest to a user or group of users through arbitrary media.

This article describes operating on a list of multimedia
devices, each of which is assigned a list of keyword strings that are
to be searched for within received phonemail messages.  Words in
phonemail messages are converted to strings in order to compare
configured string criteria to message content for appropriate
handling thereafter.  Message items which are found to contain a
maximum number of matches for any particular configuration shall
automatically be forwarded to the specified destination.  Through
voice control interface to a phonemail system, a profile may be set
up by a user.  System detection of the presence of this profile
dictates what message items are forwarded where.

skilled in the art that many examples can be demonstrated where
arbitrary message item search criteria is specified and arbitrary
