Method for Maximum Task Completion of Telephone Messages

Often users receive a plurality of telephone messages.  It is
desirable to use the calendar services and the duration time of
telephone messages to allow a user to hear as many telephone messages
as possible within a designated time period.

This article describes a method and apparatus by which the
duration time for telephone messages within electronic telephony
services are arranged in a playing sequence by which the maximum
number of presentations can be presented to a user according to
electronic calendar slots.  Optionally, the user could specify time
durations and the service would present the user with the maximum
number of messages that could be played within the designed time
duration.  This invention would automatically sort the telephone
messages and present the user with the list of messages.  Optionally,
users can be presented with the list or have the presentations
automatically executed based on their telephone message Repository
Profile default specifications.

A Time Duration Component measures the time length associated
with playing specified messages.  Each telephone message's duration
meeting the user criteria is accumulated for a sum total duration
time for the telephone messages.  The invention searches for an
available calendar slot meeting the user criteria and sum total time
duration.  The invention posts a "telephone-messaging-listening"
event within an av...
