Abstract

In an annotation system which utilizes a word dictionary to annotate words, problems arise when the words are not recognized because they are conglomerations of characters (e.g., PGMXYZ.EXE) with a meaning to the creator. A method is needed for communicating the desirable annotation for such an occurrence without burdening a user to intervene in such a case.

Method for Producing Enhanced Annotations with Automatic Character
Announce upon Detection of Unrecognized Word

In an annotation system which utilizes a word dictionary to
annotate words, problems arise when the words are not recognized
because they are conglomerations of characters (e.g., PGMXYZ.EXE)
with a meaning to the creator.  A method is needed for communicating
the desirable annotation for such an occurrence without burdening a
user to intervene in such a case.

This article implementation automatically speaks the characters
which make up a word in the event a word is not recognized for proper
annotation.  This article is also useful in enhanced phonetic
annotation systems which utilize word dictionaries to ensure proper
word pronunciation.

Essential Elements and Their Relationships:

o   Sounding characters instead of words every time a word cannot be
    properly annotated.

Substituted Elements:

o   Speed between voiced characters.

New Features/Advantages:

o   Enhanced annotation system without burdening a user to intervene
    for unrecognizable and improper annotations.
