Abstract

Now that more data is available in soft copy, there are many common tools that allow one to extract reference text. There is currently no automated way to concurrently capture related reference material which would be used in a bibliography.

This text was extracted from an ASCII text file.
This is the abbreviated version, containing approximately 61% of the total text.

Automated Bibliographic Information Gathering and Processing

Now that more data is available in soft copy, there are many
common tools that allow one to extract reference text.  There is
currently no automated way to concurrently capture related reference

Fig. 1 shows the data flow.  Whenever the user (10), using a
standard softcopy browse program (20) to access softcopy documents in

title, publisher) of the document from which the text was copied.

The Research Extension then formats this data with tags for the
editor of choice (as kept in a user profile) conforming to standard
bibliography style.

Refer to Fig. 2.  At another time, the user can cut-and-paste
entries from the Extract file (40) as they are creating a research
paper (80).  This new document will have both the text and hidden
marker.  At a time of their choice, they can...
