Transport Cart with Air Cleaning Powered by Solar Cells

      Described is a cart for transporting parts, needing to be held
in a clean environment, between cleanrooms during the manufacturing
process.  A continuous flow of filtered air is maintained through the
cart by means of fans driven by a rechargeable battery and by solar
cells, which may be activated both by artificial and natural ambient
light.  The cart may also be used for storing such parts.

      As shown in Fig. 1, a cart 10 includes a sealed chamber section
12, a filter and baffle section 14, and a fan and electrical section
16.  External access to chamber section 12 can be obtained by means
of hinged doors 18 at opposite sides of the cart 10.  A solar cell
grid array 20 is fastened atop filter and baffle section 14, being
divided into sections angled to increase the area available for solar
cells.  Parts to be stored or transported are loaded, within a
cleanroom environment, into chamber section 12 with either or both of
the doors 18 open.  When doors 18 are both closed, the chamber within
section 12 is sealed.

      During the operation of the cart 10, air flows inward through a
number of inlet holes 22 in the top of filter and baffle section 14.
Class Ten filters, mounted within section 14, ensure that intake air
is filtered to Class Ten quality before it flows continuously
downward through chamber section 12, being drawn by several
axial-flow fans mounted within fan and electrical sect...
