Method for Pop-up Utility

Disclosed is a method for Pop-up utility which has a new
graphical user interface to indicate and change the state of the PC.
This program uses Fn + F2 key to perform the pop-up function, but
there is no need for a special hardware.

Fig. 1 shows a typical screen of WINDOWS, in which the
program's window (Fuel) is covered with another one.  When Fn + F2
key is pressed in Fig. 1, the program appears to the front (Fig. 2).
If Fn + F2 key is pressed again in Fig. 2, the program disappears
from the screen (Fig. 3), and comes to the front of it by pressing Fn
+ F2 key once more (Fig. 2).

Fig. 4 shows the structure of this program.  When the program
is started, it sets the WINDOWS's timer to receive the timer message
from WINDOWS every 1000 msec.  (Step 1).  Every time the program gets
the message, it checks the status of Fn + F2 key (Step 2).  If it is
pressed, the program checks whether it is in focus or not (Step 3),
and then changes the status (Step 4).

This program uses the system interrupt called SMI to detect the
Fn + F2 key.  Even if the system does not have SMI, the driver which
has the same function will make this implementation possible to be
realized.  And any other key combination can be assigned instead of
Fn + F2 key.
