Graphical User Interface for LAN NetView Fix - Event Log Filter Notebook

Disclosed is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for selecting
events from the LAN NetView Fix* event log database.

This disclosure addresses a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that
will display a Presentation Manager* (PM) notebook that contains
pages that the user can use to define the event log filters.  The
event log filters are used to determine which entries should be
retrieved from the event log database and displayed.  Only those
events in the event log database that match the specified filter
criteria will be retrieved and displayed.

The event log filters are:

- Notebook page 1 - "Filter by Other"

-- The "Include only events marked as IMPORTANT" check box

Checking this box will cause LAN NetView Fix to include only those
events marked as "important" in the Event Log window.  This
indication works with other selections to further subset the list of
important events.  If this box is not checked, then all events are
available to be included by the subsequent filtering.

  -- The Date Range

The date range allows the user to select a set of events between a
specific start and end date (inclusive).  The date range is always
used.  If the user does not change the range, then all events are
retrieved subject to other filtering that may have been specified.

  -- Filter by System

The System Filter lists the names of all systems that are currently
contained in the event log database.  This container is a
multi-select list; therefore, the user can select 0 or more entries.

- Notebook page 2 - Filter by Class

This page of the notebook lists all of the Resource Classes that are
currently contained in the event log database.  This container is a
multi-select list; therefore, the user can select 0 or more entries.

- Notebook page 3 - Filter by Type

This page of the notebook lists all of the Event Types that are
currently contained in the event log database.  This container is a
multi-select list; therefore, the user can select 0 or more entries.

Once the user is satisfied with the filter information, the
user can select the "Show Event Log..." pushbutton.  This causes a
"Please wait - accessing database" message to appear.  It is not
dismissed until all the filtered event log entries are available and
displayed in the Event Log Browser window.  If there were no entries
found using the filter(s), then a message is displayed indicating
this and the user is allowed to change the specified filters.
