User Interface for LAN NetView Fix Event Registration/Deregistration

Disclosed is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that can be used
to indicate which type of events that LAN NetView Fix* will handle.

This disclosure addresses a GUI that will allow the user to
register or deregister the following types of notifications:

o   Common Management Information Protocol (CMIP) events

o   Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) traps

This interface provides an efficient, easy-to-use GUI that can
be used to select the CMIP notifications that LAN NetView Fix is to
receive.  It can also be used to select processing of SNMP traps.  An
instance of this GUI is available for each LAN NetView View*
management collection.  In addition, there is an instance of this GUI
for the local machine where LAN NetView Fix is installed.  The local
instance of the GUI provides a means of filtering incoming events.

The information that is required to register for events is
contained in the GUI.  This GUI provides the following capabilities:

o   The ability to select whether or not to receive the Fix forwarded
notifications.  These are notifications that a Fix running on
another workstation could emit, such that the Fix running on the
local workstation can receive them.  If selected, then subsetting
of CMIP notifications (described below) is still enabled.

o   The ability to select whether or not to receive all CMIP
notifications (except the Fix forwarded notifications described
above).  If selected, then subsetting of CMIP notifications
    (described below) is disabled.

o   The ability to subset the CMIP notifications that are to be
received.  The following are the CMIP notifications that can be
selected.  The list below shows the English name of the resource
classes and event types and their corresponding OSI (Open Systems
Interconnection) dot notation.  Note that the user can tell the
fix program to receive CMIP notifications other than those listed
below by selecting the "All CMIP Notifications" check box.
