Abstract

Disclosed is a Fault Injection Device (FID), which facilitates manual fault injection of I/O faults on assembled printed circuit cards. The FID is an interposer device; - that is a device that is connected between the Printed Circuit (PC) board and the semi-conductor device. FID's are equipped with in-line signal continuity (micro-jumper) switches. These jumpers can be temporarily removed to cause an open circuit on the respective signal path that it is connected in-line with. When the jumper is removed, the test code for the respective PC board is executed to determine if the code has the logic or intelligence to detect the open injected by the FID on the respective signal path under analysis. This process of injecting opens is repeated on all signal paths.
