Usage Counter of POS Printer

Disclosed is a device of counting the POS printer's print lines
and receipt cuts number, which are typical usage parameters of POS
printer.  This device enables opportune maintenance activity and
benefits good condition of the printer.

The subject device is constructed in accordance with the following
matters:

1.  Printer has EEPROM which can conserve count data after power off.

2.  EEPROM is not a replaceable part.

3.  EEPROM count data is set 0 at shipment.  After then, 0 reset can
    not be done.

4.  Data re-writing times of EEPROM is limited.  Therefore, "count-up
number" is defined for both each print line and receipt cuts
number considering whole life usage.  When each actual usage
reaches "count-up number" EEPROM's count data increases one by
    one.

5.  Printer can print each actual usage number (EEPROM's count data X
"count-up number") on the receipt paper with self-test program.
