Integrated Servics Digital Network Simulator with Error Insertion

      Disclosed is a system for line error insertion of Integrated
Services Digital Network (ISDN) which is a communication network to
aim at integrating communication media.  This system performs like
ISDN network and be able to make various error data on network line
to test the ISDN products.

      Hardware configuration of the system is shown in Fig. 1.  On
this system, ISDN Basic rate Layer-1 frame controller device is
controlled by microprocessor, and communication protocol of each
layer is controlled by personal computer system.

      Error injection function of this system available for Layer-1
(Physical Layer), Layer-2 (LAP-D) and Layer-3 (Message Layer).  This
error injection is controlled by personal computer system.  Fig. 2
shows sample of error injection.  Fig. 2a shows Layer-1 (Physical)
disconnection of error injection and Fig. 2b shows inadequate message
response.

      The error injection function is programmable and easy to create
and modify error injection combination by personal computer
controlling the system.  Also, the system can emulate ISDN Primary
Rate network by replacing frame controller for Basic Rate with that
for Primary Rate.
