Mouse Control by a Single Action Switched

      Described is a method which enables a person with physical
disabilities particularly who can use only single action switches,
such as puff switch, eye-lid switch and so on, to control a mouse
connected to a personal computer.

      For some physically disabled persons, mouse control is very
hard work because of there restricted motion of their hands.  Many of
them can handle some switched using their remaining functions;
movement of a finger, chin, lip, tongue, eye-lid, puff and so on.

      The user selects a command displayed near the mouse cursor on
the screen by the switch.  The mouse takes an action according to the
selected command.

      The mouse driver which has above function is applicable to
games, many applications, and Environment Control System which are
designed to be controlled by a usual mouse.

Current method:

      Usually Keys on a keyboard are used to move mouse cursor.  For
example, AccessDOS program controls mouse by pressing numeric keys.
Pressing '6', mouse cursor moves to right and pressing '4', it moves
to left.  Key '5' acts as a click button.

Improved method:

      When the mouse is not moving around, next action is either of
'CLICK' and 'START MOVE'.  These items are displayed near the cursor
position one by one.  The user selects one of them by operating the
switch.
