Abstract

Disclosed is a card pattern design method which enables (1) More efficient use of the card space (2) Multiple selectable pattern options to eliminate 1 more card design (3) Quick response to user requirement. This method is to prepare the 2 kinds of pads/patterns on the same area of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) type card.

Surface Mount Technology Card Design Method

Disclosed is a card pattern design method which enables (1)
More efficient use of the card space (2) Multiple selectable pattern
options to eliminate 1 more card design (3) Quick response to user
requirement.  This method is to prepare the 2 kinds of pads/patterns
on the same area of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) type card.

The Figure shows the example of this method.  The case is that
there is a circuit which can be designed by one LSI(1) or
Resister-packs (2), whose usage depends on user application, and both
of which should be implemented in one card to respond quickly to user
requirement change.  This method solves this proposition.  The
pads/patterns of Resister-packs (3) are prepared under the space
where those of one LSI (4) is mounted.  Since (1) and (2) are not
used at the same time, there is no problem even (3) is located under
(4).

This method is applicable in several cases, as shown below for
example.

 (A) LSI and LSI (different package)

 (B) LSI and discrete parts

Generally, the products becomes smaller and smaller and the
electric control card becomes smaller.  As the result, the effective
use of card space becomes much more important.  The disclosed card
design method is very effective to implement 2 kinds of circuits in
the same space.
