Alternative Storage Location for Displaced Cartridges

A recovery procedure for an Automatic Cartridge Feeder (ACF) is
disclosed that describes the algorithm which puts an "extra
cartridge" in the priority cell and alerts the operator of the error
condition.

To simplify several modes of operation for the ACF, there is a
rule that a cartridge is put back to the slot from which the
cartridge was taken.  If an operator inadvertently puts a cartridge
in a location that is currently reserved for a cartridge that is
currently mounted in the drive, the rule cannot be followed and the
ACF needs a way to recover when the cartridge in the drive is
unloaded and attempted to be put away in the now occupied location.
A recovery procedure allows the ACF to put the cartridge in a known
location and alert an operator of the error condition.

In several of the ACF modes of operation, there is a rule that
a cartridge is put back to the slot from which the cartridge was
taken.  This requirement allows the cartridge to have a return empty
location and allows sequential loading of cartridges in the ACF AUTO
and SYSTEM modes of operation.

When a cartridge is taken out of a location to be mounted in a
drive, an indicator for that location is turned on to alert an
operator not to put a different cartridge in that now empty, but
reserved location.  However, if an operator puts a cartridge in the
reserved location, the location is not available for the cartridge
currently mounted in the drive when it is unloaded from the drive.
If not taken care of, this condition, labelled "extra cartridge"
