Intermodal Chassis AVI Tag Mount

Disclosed is a hinged mounting bracket for holding an asset
identification (AVI) tag in place near the right front of a container
chassis.  The tag-mounting portion of the bracket can be pivoted
upward to provide access to a locking handle during container loading
and unloading operations.

As shown in the Figure, an asset identification tag 10 is
fastened to an intermodal container chassis frame 12 by means of an
attachment bracket 14, being located at the right front of the
container chassis as required by specifications of the American
Association of Railroads (AAR).  Attachment bracket 14 includes a
fixed portion 16, bolted directly to chassis 12 with three bolts 18,
such as Avdel Monobolts*, and a pivotable portion 20, to which tag 10
is attached by screws 22.  Pivotable portion 20 is pivotally mounted
to fixed portion 16, preferably by means of roll pins 24 having
designed stop positions.  This attachment is preferrably loose enough
to permit the return of pivotable portion 20 to its lowered, vertical
position by means of gravity.

During container loading and unloading operations, pivotable
portion 20 is manually pivoted upward to provide access to a locking
handle (not shown), which is at least partially blocked when
pivotable portion 20 is in a lowered position.
