Double Heads Optical Data Storage Drive

      This design concept involves two optical heads located on
opposite sides of an optical media disk.  The magnetic bias field for
each head is provided by a set of permanent magnets mounted on the
other head carrier.

      Fig. 2 The design of this invention, as illustrated in Fig.
1, comprises:

o   A media disk 1 which can be mounted and removed from a spindle
    motor 2,

o   Two optical head/magnet assemblies 3 which share the same
    foot-print and are positioned on the opposite surfaces of the
    disk 1, each of said optical head/magnet assembly 3 comprises an
    optical head 4 positioned between two sets of permanent magnet 5
    having two alternating poles.  The optical head/magnet assemblies
    are moved across the data portion of the disk by carriers 6.
    With such arrangement, an appropriate magnetic field required by
    one optical head can be provided by moving the correct magnet of
    the other optical head/magnet assembly to the said optical head.
    Fig. 2 illustrates an alternative configuration.
