      Disclosed is a mechanical package design that includes an
external antenna design and mating connector whose form factor meets
the requirements for products specified under the Personal Computer
Memory Card Industry Association (PCMCIA) Standard 2.0 dated November
1992.

The assembly consists of four major components listed here:

1.  Card Assembly

2.  Frame

3.  Right Angle Printed Circuit Board Connector

4.  Pivoting Antenna

      The card assembly (1) contains radio frequency (RF) components,
digital logic components, the printed circuit mount connector (3) and
standard 68 pin PCMCIA connector (5).  This card assembly is
installed in the frame that contains two molded in features.  These
features (6) and (7) act as stops to position the antenna in its
stored (6) and deployed positions (7).

Summary of design features:

1.  The antenna package is designed so it fits within the confines of
    a PCMCIA extended card form factor.

2.  This antenna pivots/rotates about the center conductor of the
    printed circuit board mount connector.  This provides flexibility
    to position the antenna at any angle between the stored and
    deployed positions.

3.  Antenna and connector are designed as a quick connect/disconnect
    system which allows for easy antenna assembly and disassembly
    when the antenna needs to be replaced.
