This text was extracted from an ASCII text file.
This is the abbreviated version, containing approximately 72% of the total text.

Instance Registration

      This invention provides a way to select a specific instance of
a program running on a workstation.  It also provides a way to
deselect that instance.

      It provides a way, for example, to select an additional
occurrence of Performance Monitor.  In that scenario, Performance
Monitor could have multiple sessions running and the administartor
may want to select just one session for purposes of problem
isolation.

      The invention includes keywords that are carried in the LAN
NetView* Tie Register and deregister commands.

The commands syntax is:

REGISTER dnnetid=netid dnsysid=sysid classoi=object_identifier
typeoi=object_identifier instnetid=netid instsysid=sysid
instoi=object_identifier instid=product_id time=begin end
freqnum=frequency_threshold freqperiod=seconds

The DEREG command has the same syntax and is used to deselect the
instance.

      The following keywords identify the workstation, the alarm
class, the alarm type, the alarm time span and alarm frequency in a
time period.

DNNETID=netid DNSYSID=sysid CLASSOI=object_identifier
TYPEOI=object_identifier TIME=begin end FREQNUM=frequency_threshold
FREQPERIOD=seconds

INST Keyword Reference

      The following additional keywords are supported in the REGISTER
and DEREG commands to support instance selection:

INSTNETID INSTSYSID INSTID INSTOI
