Abstract

A popup or pull-down menu list (Fig. 1) is implemented such that both label and any associated image can be concurrently displayed side by side. As a user selects from the menu label list, the associated image is displayed alongside the label (Figs. 2 and 3). The list is scrollable up and down, with the relative image positions being correctly maintained after scrolling.

Scrollable Popup Menu with Selection Tracking Display of Graphical
Objects

A popup or pull-down menu list (Fig. 1) is implemented such that both
label and any associated image can be concurrently displayed side by
side.  As a user selects from the menu label list, the associated
image is displayed alongside the label (Figs. 2 and 3).  The list is
scrollable up and down, with the relative image positions being
correctly maintained after scrolling.

The typical implementation of label and image associated selection is
from a single label popup menu or selection list and a fixed position
image display area.  With this method, maintaining a close viewing
position between the fixed image and a selection list requires
keeping the length of a selection list artifically short, which
results in more user list scrolling activity.

The novelty here is that any length popup menu or selection list can
be shown, since the images will display alongside the selection in
the list.  The label and image will continue to co-display as
selections are made from the list and, if display screen size so
dictates, as the list itself is scrolled.
