Data Model for Hierarchical Views of Entity Oriented Information

A method is disclosed for viewing entity oriented information
in an entity relationship model by using hierarchical structure.  The
structure provides a means of representing facts about entities
including attributes on relationship and relationship on
relationship.

Fig. 1 shows an Entity Relationship (ER) model of a man, woman,
child, and their relationships.  There are two attributes:  (1) name,
a fact describing the name of the Man, and (2) years, a fact
describing the number of years the Man and Woman have been married.
This example is used to illustrate different hierarchical views.

Information Model - Fig. 2 shows the Information Model
constructs needed for the hierarchical views.  The subclasses of the
ISCRelationshipLink class are used to specify what is the target
entity type to which this link leads.  Each subtype handles a special
case of the target entity type.

o   ISCRLDescribedByInverseOf

This class defines the traversal path, from the
relationship link related to this class to the entity type
described by the inverse relationship link.

For example, to traverse from Man to Woman, the Marries
relationship link is related to an instance of
ISCRLDescribedByInverseOf, which means that the target entity
type is described by the inverse link, IsMarriedTo, and is the
    Woman entity type.
