Dual-Purpose Till Cover

Disclosed is a cover which can be locked in place, either over
a removable till for a cash drawer, or at an intermediate level
within the cash drawer.

As shown in Fig. 1, a cover 10 may be locked in place over the
top of a till 12, by means of a tab 14 extending through a slot 16
and by means of a pawl 18, rotated by a lock mechanism 19 into
position under a locking tab 20.  In this way, cash within the till
is protected, for example, when the till is carried to a cash drawer
from a central office.

As shown in Fig. 2, cover 10 may alternately be locked in a
similar fashion at an intermediate level within cash drawer 22.  The
cash till 12 is then set in place atop cover 10 within drawer 22.  In
this way, a separate lockable space 23 is provided under cover 10,
for keeping, for example, large bills and checks, and a position is
provided for storing cover 10 when it is not being used to lock till
12.  A slot 24 may be provided within cover 10 for the insertion of
such documents.

Cash drawer 22 is slidably mounted within an enclosure 26, to
be separately lockable by means of a lock 28.
