Abstract

In visual toolkits, one of the most important goals is to minimize programming as much as possible. This is difficult when nested method invocations are required. The following describes a technique to eliminate programming even for nested method invocations.

Nested Action Objects

In visual toolkits, one of the most important goals is to
minimize programming as much as possible.  This is difficult when
nested method invocations are required.  The following describes a
technique to eliminate programming even for nested method
invocations.

A method action object is a non-visual object that is used to
create dynamic method invocations in the visual application builders.
Method action object can have any number of parameters defined by the
interface of the corresponding method.  The values of these
parameters are initialized through value holder objects or constant
values.  This interface can be modified to accept another action
object as a parameter source.  This means the general action object
interface supplied return values that can be tied to a parameter of
the other action objects.  This mechanism enables an unlimited level
of nesting in the action objects.
