Pluggable Data Access Arrangement Telephone Coupler

A Data Access Arrangement (DAA) telephone coupler with a
country dependent circuit board and connector is disclosed.  The
coupler plugs directly into a integrated modem adapter port,
eliminating cabling between the coupler and the adapter port.

As shown in the Figure, the connector 1 and country dependent
components 2 are mounted on a Printed Circuit (PC) board 3.  The PC
board 3 is encased in a plastic housing 4 consisting of two halves
that are bonded together over the PC board 3.

The DAA coupler 5 is retained in the modem adapter card
connector 6 with standoffs 7 and thumbscrews 8, a low cost, positive
method of retention.

The telephone cable 9 plugs directly into a RJ11 jack 10 in the
back of coupler 5, allowing easy access and routing of the cable 8.

The size of the coupler 5 is determined by the connectors 1 and
6 needed for the application.
