Floating System Power Control Network Card

      A method of mounting a System Power Control Network (SPCN) card
inside an AC BOX which auto docks to a backplane without a cable is
disclosed.

      A 200 pin connector on the SPCN card plugs directly to the
backplane.  The card is allowed to float in all directions to
eliminate tolerance build up between the AC box and backplane.  The
card is grounded to the AC box to prevent electromagnetic
compatibility (EMC) problems.  The card float and grounding is
accomplished by sandwiching the card between a series of springs.
The flex of the springs allow the card to float while the springs
maintain contact between the AC box chassis and a ground plane on the
card.  The docking of the card is accomplished by two guidance rails
that grab the edges of the card and align the 200 pin connector with
the mating connector on the backplane.  The insertion forces required
to plug the connector are provided by a lead screw which is attached
to the card and protrudes out the back of the AC box (Figure).
