Diagramming Technique for Representing Entity-Relationship Models
with Subtyping

A diagramming technique is disclosed for representing the
object-oriented concept of subtyping and supertyping in an
Entity-Relationship (ER) diagram.  From the diagram it is clear what
entities have subtype and supertype relationships.

Below is a mapping that describes how to map from various ER,
Object-Oriented and Information Model concepts into the disclosed
diagramming format.

The outstanding features of this invention are:
o   The ability to depict a wide shallow object class lattice as a
    vertical stack with indentation.
o   The ability to store the attribute values of subtype sets.
o   The ability to allow for multiple subtype sets.
o   The ability to clearly delineate the difference between a
relationship line and an inheritance double-line.
