Abstract

Disclosed is a low profile air plenum and cable raceway design. The plenum's unique "V" shaped design provides space beneath the plenum for hands to reach, grab and pull cables through the system. The plenums shape also reduces the pressure drop of the turning cooling air. The design requires very little space.

Low Profile Internal Cabling Raceway

Disclosed is a low profile air plenum and cable raceway design.
The plenum's unique "V" shaped design provides space beneath the
plenum for hands to reach, grab and pull cables through the system.
The plenums shape also reduces the pressure drop of the turning
cooling air.  The design requires very little space.

The design of the Low Profile Internal Cabling Raceway is shown
in the Figure.  The key design requirements that are addressed with
this design are: 1) cooling air needs to be turned, 2) electrical
cables need to be accessed, 3) overall height needs to be minimized.
The unique "V" shape of the plenum turns the air and provides space
for the hands for grabbing and pulling the cables through the system.
Subsequently, adding more height to the system for cable access is
not required.  When compared to a conventional square plenum, the "V"
plenum has less pressure drop.  As a result, smaller fans can be used
for cooling.
