Architecture for Graphic Printer Queue Objects

Disclosed is an architecture that provides a general structure
for graphical user interface objects to support printer and print
queue management.  Objects include printers, print queues, and print
jobs.

This architecture for graphic printer queue objects defines the
following general printer queue object types.  Each type is
represented graphically by an icon.  In addition, states are visually
indicated for the objects.  Each state is represented by a change in
the iconic representation of the object.  The priority of print jobs

The type of objects are as follows:
o   Queue objects--providing iconic visual indication of type and

Two types of queue objects are defined:
     1.  Remote queue object--represents a queue existing on another
        computer system
     2.  Local queue object--represents a queue existing on the local
        computer system
o   Printer objects--providing iconic visual indication of type and
    state.
o   Print job objects--providing iconic visual indication of print
job state and order within a queue.
 The states disclosed are:
o   Queue object states:  Queue On, Queue Off
o   Printer object states:  Printer On, Printer Off
o   Print Job states:  Print Job Held, Print Job Released
