Optimal Refrigerator Control System for Thermal Storage Air Conditioner

      Disclosed herein is a scheme for optimal control or scheduling
for water refrigerators in thermal storage air cooling systems.

      Next 24 hour control pattern is finally determined after number
of trial simulations with respect to various control patterns
generated and selected under a Genetic Algorithm (GA) based rule.
This whole process can be repeated hourly to update the control
pattern to cope with variation between prediction and actual.

      Simulations are performed on an integrated plant dynamics
simulator as shown in the Figure.  It consists of a power demand
prediction system, an air cooling unit simulator, a room temperature
simulator, a water thermal storage simulator, and a water
refrigerator simulator.

      With the current state values and weather forcast data etc, the
integrated simulator can provide next 24 hour simulation with respect
to each control pattern candidate for the refrigerator.  The result
of each trial simulation is evaluated by an objective function block
which generates a fitness value for the control in terms of
optimality
taking both comfortability and electric power cost into account.
