Direct Manipulation Control for Contextual Help

Disclosed is a direct manipulation control for displaying
contextual help on an object.

Contextual help is help which is specific to an object or item.
It typically addresses information about the object which is
definitional and or procedural.  Procedural information is
information on how the object is used, or information as to what
tasks can be performed with or to the object.  Contextual help is
activated by directly manipulating the help action in conjunction
with an object.

The benefits of this disclosed control lies in its ability to
bring up object specific help information through direct
manipulation.  See the Figure for an example.
