      ISDN Cards are made of different functions such as ISDN Line
transceiver, Voice Processing, CODEC, B channel HDLC controller, D
channel controller....  These functions are made of chip set
interconnected by dedicated bus.

      The ISDN Oriented Module (IOM) Bus designed by SIEMENS provides
the capability to connect various channels time-multiplexed over a
four-wire serial interface channel.

      The INTEL Subscriber Link Data (SLD) iTAC Interface consists of
three lines capable to convey only B1, B2, D channels and control
status bits.

      These two standards are not compatible.  To get the best of
breed over available vendor chip set, we have to mix it.  This
solution allows this interoperability.
  1.  State of the art  - The IOM standard defines an industry
       standard serial bus for interconnecting telecommunications ICs
       designed by SIEMENS.  The IOM bus provides a symmetrical
       full-duplex communication link, containing user data,
       control/programming, and status channels.  The various
channels
       are time-multiplexed over a four-wire serial interface
channels.
      The SLD iTAC Interface consists of three lines capable to
       convey only B1, B2, D channels and control status bits.
      These two standards are not compatible.  This hardware
       conversion does nor exist today.
  2.  Advantages - Capability to connect via a serial bus, SIEMENS
       chip set with INTEL chip set using SLD bus.
      In our application, avoid Layer1 modification and
       rehomologation of product using INTEL* 29C53 chip.
  3.  Summary - For this disclosure, take the case where the SLD BUS
       is used by the Module close to the network such as a
transceiver
       and IOM bus used within the card for voice or data processing
       module such as Data communication c...
