Flex Cable Mounting Bracket

A flex cable bracket that provides good attachment, grounding,
and voice coil lead support and positioning is disclosed.

A flex cable bracket that provides a good attachment and ground
for a disk drive is shown in Fig. 1.  The flex cable is bonded to the
bracket in the area under the head leads.

Exploded views of the actuator assembly and flex cable bracket
are shown in Fig. 2.  The bracket slips around the actuator pivot
assembly and is located circumferentially by rotating the bracket
into contact with the arm.  The flex cable ground lead and voice coil
leads are folded around the bracket and under the pivot assembly.  A
clamp is used to attach the bracket and flex cable to the pivot
assembly.  The clamp contacts the ground lead and establishes the
ground as shown in Fig. 3.

The voice coil leads can be positioned anywhere around the
pivot assembly that would facilitate termination.  By positioning the
voice coil termination pads as shown in Figure 3 the voice coil leads
are well placed relative to the termination pads and lead
identification is not required.
