Automatic Sensing Rotation in Rotatable Monitor

Disclosed is a device for a rotatable monitor that can
automatically sense the horizontal or vertical position of the
monitor.  One of the signal lines of the monitor ID (Identifications)
which is sent from the monitor side to the main system side
identifies the position of the monitor.

The screen of the monitor in Fig. 1 is in horizontal state and
the screen of the monitor in Fig. 2 is in the vertical state.  The
"Horizontal ID input" and "Vertical ID input" come from the monitor.
For example, the "Horizontal ID input" is set to low level and
"Vertical ID input" is set to high level.  The "ID output" signal is
one of the signal likes of Monitor ID to the main system such as
personal computer CPU board.  The switch in the monitor in Figs. 1
and 2 changes according to the monitor rotation.

When the monitor is in the horizontal position, the "ID output"
is connected to the "Horizontal ID input" (Fig. 1).  By checking the
"Output ID" signal, the main system can know that the attached
monitor is in the horizontal state.  If a user rotates the monitor to
the vertical position (Fig. 2), the switch connects to "Vertical ID
input" from "Horizontal ID input."  Then the main system recognizes
that the position of the monitor is changed to the horizontal
position by checking the "ID output".  In this way, the main system
can check the monitor position.
