Abstract

Disclosed is a relative position sensor which senses the rotation angle of galvano mirror which is the actuator to track the data track of magneto-optical disk. This relative position sensor gets relative position error signal by the differential output of two detectors. Between these detectors, there exists a Light Emission Diode (LED). Light form LED reflected by an assistant mirror which is mounted on the side of moving part of galvano mirror and the reflected beam go to detectors.

Disk Drive

      Disclosed is a relative position sensor which senses the
rotation angle of galvano mirror which is the actuator to track the
data track of magneto-optical disk.  This relative position sensor
gets relative position error signal by the differential output of two
detectors.  Between these detectors, there exists a Light Emission
Diode (LED).  Light form LED reflected by an assistant mirror which
is mounted on the side of moving part of galvano mirror and the
reflected beam go to detectors.

      Fig. 1 shows the example of this apparatus.  LED 1  emits the
light to assistant mirror 2  which is mounted on the side of moving
part 3  of galvano mirror and which reflects the light.  As Fig. 2
shows, when galvano mirror has no tilt, reflected beam returns to the
detectors 4 equally.  On the other hands, when galvano mirror has
tilt, the amount of reflected beam is different in each detector.  By
getting the differential of outputs of these detectors 4, the
relative position error can be sensed.

      This apparatus can be applicable for the equipments as scanners
or projectors which has galvano mirror.
