Icon that Shows Length of Audio or Video

Disclosed is a method which indicates the length of a
multimedia audio or video segment before starting the segment.

The length of the segment is indicated by including a time
label on the segment's icon.  For example, if the length of the
segment is five minutes and ten seconds, the bottom of the icon
includes a label that says "5:10".

The time remaining for the segment may also be indicted by this
label.  As the segment is played, the label counts backward to
"0.00", similar to a microwave oven time.  The time will stop when
the user stops the segment.
