and Robot

      Disclosed is a method of high resolution positioning control
which is performed by measuring and controlling position using an
oscilloscopemeter and a robot.  The control is achieved by
approaching the high resolution gap-sensor for reading an interval
against an object to it and feed-back that migration length to the
high precision robot.

      The Figure shows the configuration of this system.  The sensor
(capacitance type gap-sensor) is fixed on the high precision robot,
and the actual distance between the sensor and the object (1) is
measured by reading an output voltage of the sensor from a position
coordinate on the oscilloscope.  This analog data is converted to
digital one by the oscilloscope, and the next robot motion is
determined by results of the waveform analysis.  If the
instrumentation results in out-of-range or is not required high
accuracy, the measurement range/resolution can be scaled-up in order
to rough measuring, the other way if the instrumentation needs high
accuracy, that can be decreased with easy control using oscilloscope
(2).  Further fast waveform analysis becomes possible when using an
oscilloscope's analytic function (e.g., ENVELOPE function) with
changing that mode.  It is also possible to send the measured data to
the host computers (3) if more advanced analysis is required.
