Virus Self-Protecting Test Program of Hard Disk Drive

      Disclosed is the simple method for checking the virus infection
under its application program of Hard Disk Drive (HDD) test exerciser
by checking the check-sum of its program and its program size.

      The merit of this disclosure is that it provides the method to
alert users of HDD test program immediately when the virus of
appending type and/or of changing program size accidentally infects
on the storage.

      Fig. 1 shows how to insert a routine for having file size area
and its check-sum area allocation.  This insertion is necessary at
making application program.  To allocate the firm area, assembly
program is convenient for code size as its example shown in Fig. 3.
Fig. 2 shows how the application program checks itself at the
beginning of program execution.  When it sees any change in check-sum
or size of its program, the warning and termination of the execution
occurs.  Thus, the program automatically alerts users and terminates
by itself when it finds any modification of its program in terms of
check-sum and program file size.
