Redundant Disk Array in 3.5 Inch Form Factor

      Disclosed is a redundant disk array system (RAID) which size is
same as 3.5 inch Hard Disk Drive (HDD) form factor.

      This system consists of two HDDs of 2.5 inch form factor and a
frame which sustains those HDDs and a controller card which controls
two HDDs according to the host command and two flexible cables which
connect two HDDs with the controller card.

      Fig. 1 shows the appearance of this system.  It has a connector
to attach the host system.  Two HDDs are mounted side by side.

      Fig. 2 shows the construction of this system.  Two HDDs, drive
1 and drive 2, are screwed on the frame.  The controller card is also
screwed with the frame.  Two connectors with two flexible cables are
connected between the controller card and two HDDs.

      Fig. 3 shows how the connectors are connected with the
controller card.  The connector (J1) which connects with the host
system is soldered at the short edge of the controller card.  Two
connectors (J2, J3) are soldered at the long edge of the card.  J3
are soldered at the component side of the card.  J2 are soldered at
the opposite side of the component side.  Furthermore the connection
face of two connectors has offset length.  This way of mounting two
connectors has no interference to mount on the card each other.  And
it ease to connect 2 flexible cables with J2 and J3 connector.
