Abstract

Disclosed is a communication unit attachment mechanism for Infrared wireless communication PCMCIA card. Fig. 1 shows that IR Unit (1-1) is attached to Base Card (1-2) directly. IR unit consists of IR transceiver on movable mechanism, it corresponds to directional beam communication. The advantage is providing portability and usability. Fig. 2 shows that IR Unit (2-1) is attached to Base Card (2-2) with Extension Cable (2-3). IR Unit and Base Card are same as Fig. 1. The advantage is providing much flexibility of communication direction and transmission efficiency. In the extended connection mode, adapting the transmission mode makes sense to reduce power consumption or improve EMC. Attached mode is detectable to provide Unit and Cable Detect Line.
