Power Saving of DC/DC Converter

      This article describes a control circuit of the notebook PC
which can shut down the power supply for the analog device control
block inside DC/DC converter while the system event controller stops
the supervise function of the system event during suspend state.

      The Figure shows the example of this control circuit.  The
analog device control block (1) inside the DC/DC converter (2)
generates the status of the analog devices such as the charging
current status (3) of the battery (4).  The system event controller
(5) will supervise the status of the analog devices and report the
status to the power management controller (6) periodically.  The
analog device control block (1) is connected to the power supply
through FET (7).  The power management controller (6) generates
#WAKEUP/#SLEEP signal (8), which is used to switch the FET (7), into
both the system event controller (5) and the DC/DC converter.
