Multiple Projects Management in LAN Environment

Disclosed is a Local Area Network (LAN) based Project
Management (PM) system that recognizes different organization
management levels and responsibilities.  The system consolidates the
planned activities/tasks in hierarchical way, top down or bottom up.
It solves the problem of Multiple Projects/tasks Management in
different organization structures; schedules according to
responsibilities in the organization, consolidates
projects/activities/tasks by organization hierarchy and enables
decision making at each management level with graphical indicators.

All existing Management scheduling tools treat activities as
part of a predefined hierarchy of project, sub projects etc.
Activities are always identified with a project.  This invention
approaches it from an organizational and responsibilities point of
view.  In any organization, there is a hierarchy of responsibilities.
From the people who are assigned activities or have personal
activities, to the manager who schedules the resources or senior
management that is responsible for committing new projects and
priorities.  But described here is how activities performed by
resources/people do not have to belong to a project.  Each activity
has a responsible resource.  All activities and resources are
scheduled
and consolidated according to the different management levels to
enable
decision making according to management responsibility - Function
Manager, Project Manager & Multi-Project Manager.

The proposed system is designed to enable a complex
organization structure with many resources, responsibilities and
management hierarchy to manage projects.  It offers a solution to a
complex organization where on one side there are different
functions/resource managers and on the other side, the project
manager.  Usually, the project manager does not have dedicated
resources, and once he is assigned with a new project, he gets the
resources from the resource/function managers.  Function managers,
such as - development, test, ID, planning, usability, etc. own the
resources and are responsible for their activities.  Once a project
is added they are required to share their resources with the new
project, creating a situation where a resource can be working on more
than one project at a time.  If the priorities affect the project
schedule, then it is up to the project manager to negotiate with the
function manager and senior management to get a higher priority for
his projects activities.  Senior management should be able to see
