Integrated Head Actuator Assembly with Voice Coil on Mount Plate

Disclosed is the technique to integrate a Head Suspension Assembly (HSA) and a Voice Coil in order to obtain a thin Actuator, reduce number of parts for making Actuator Assembly and stacked type Actuator Assembly which has couple of integrated Head Actuator Assembly (HAA) on Actuator Assembly.

The structure of this disclosure is as follows (Figure).

1. A Mount plate is lengthened.

2. Voice Coil is made on the Mount Plate by plating or sputtering

process.

3. The Voice Coil might be made by using flexible cable.

4. By making a hole on the lengthened Mount Plate, this Head

Suspension Assembly can be used with a Voice Coil as a one-piece

complete HAA.

5. When attaching the flexible cable Voice Coil on the Mount Plate,

Insert molding technique may be used.

This technique will not only reduce the number of parts but reduce the Actuator Assembly inertia and total weight of moving mass so that it is only needed of thin (not powerful) Voice Coil which are like flexible cable type Voice Coil or sputtering Voice Coil on Head Suspension Assembly. And also, by using the thin type Voice Coil, this Actuator Assembly is applied to thin type Head Disk Assembly (HDA) and small size HDA (1.8 inch HDA or smaller type HDA).
