Voice Coil Motor Actuator Lock

      Disclosed is the device that is used the yoke of Voice Coil
Motor (VCM) as the back yoke of actuator lock asm, which locks access
mechanism of Hard Disk Drive (HDD) to prevent damage due to external
shock and vibration for non-operating conditions.

      Fig. 1 shows the current actuator lock asm.  Fig. 2 shows the
example of this device.  Actuator lock asm (1)is fixed on the yoke
(2) of Voice coil motor.  Actuator (3) has the soft magnetic steel
(4) and actuator lock asm (1) has the permanent magnet (5).  So,
actuator lock asm (1) holds the actuator (3) magnetically for
non-operating conditions.  Also, for operating conditions, actuator
(3) moves to data zone which is area written data.

      In the future, holding torque will be bigger to get more shock
resistance for non-operating conditions and the distance from holding
position of actuator to data zone will be nearer to get more capacity
(to expand the data zone).  But, in current actuator lock asm it is
difficult to be bigger holding torque or expand its data zone.
Because the influence of magnetic field against servo system must be
worse.  But, in this device, the yoke of (2) of Voice coil motor is
bent to struct the back yoke of actuator lock asm.  In this case,
magnetic field of magnet lock asm (1) concentrates as Fig. 2 shows.
So, holding force of actuator lock asm can be bigger than that of no
back yoke and the influence of magnetic field of actuator lock...
