Flash Memory or EPROM Type Microprocessor Unit for Hard Disk Drive

      This article describes a Hard Disk Drive which has one or more
than one micro processor whose micro code can be updated on the
printed circuit board.

      Fig. 1 shows the one example of the hard disk drive.  This
configuration has one micro processor whose main program and data
memory is constructed by flash memory or EPROM type memory.  The
content of the memory can be updated through special serial
interface.

      Fig. 2 shows the another example of the hard disk drive.  This
configuration does not have the special interface.  Host interface
can be switched for memory update.

      Fig. 3 shows the special configuration hard disk drive whose
controller has two micro processor.  Every micro code can be updated
by each other.

Those hard disk drive controller configuration allow easy micro code
updating.
