Abstract

Disclosed is a method of solving the following: A First In/First Out (FIFO) provides three pointers: full, empty and half-full. Many electronic designs require additional FIFO size information not available with the current FIFO technology.

This text was extracted from an ASCII text file.

First In/First Out with Programmable Intermediate Pointer

Disclosed is a method of solving the following:  A First In/First Out
(FIFO) provides three pointers: full, empty and half-full.  Many
electronic designs require additional FIFO size information not
available with the current FIFO technology.

The advantages of the current solution are the following:
o  More size pointers are available
o  The size of the FIFO to be detected is programmable via a
      processor

This invention can be used for any hardware design based on FIFO.
