Security Lock System

      This article describes the security lock system of a Personal
Computer.

      The I/O devices, such as internal drives and option cards is
disposed beneath the top cover, and the entrances for the removable
media (like FDD and CD-ROM) can be covered behind the front door
which can slide sideways.  A user can lock both the cover and the
door by single keylock with their well designed combinational
sequence.

      Fig. 1 shows three key positions of the subject keylock system.
  (1) position-1: both unlocked
  (2) position-2: top cover locked
  (3) position-3: front door and top cover locked

Fig. 2 shows the elements of lock mechanism in detail.  A slider is
up at key position 1 and 2 to prevent the top cover sliding out from
the machine (Fig. 4).  A pin is projected to this side in Fig. 4 at
position-2 to prevent the front door sliding to sideways (Fig. 3).
